Description
L’ Etranger is a village house which dates back to the 17th century and has 5 bedrooms en-suite, a large private pool (6 x 15m) with sun beds, a terrace, a garden and offering beautiful views. The house also has a garage underneath the house for 1 medium-size car.
Entering l’ Etranger through its beautiful antique wooden door, will bring you into another world. On the ground floor you will find the well equipped kitchen (most appliances are from SMEG amongst which an induction cooktop), a large dining room with French doors that lead directly to the terrace. From the dining room you will arrive in a salon annex library. Near the entrance door is a guest toilet.
On the first floor you will find 3 en-suite bedrooms (1 bedroom with bath, shower and sink; 2 bathrooms with shower, sink and toilet). One bedroom has 2 single beds.
On the second floor is the master bedroom (with full bath and double sinks) overlooking the garden and the pool, as well as another en-suite bedroom and the laundry room (equipped with a washing machine, a dryer, an ironing board and iron and a portable rack for special clothes).
The entire house has air conditioning (cooling in the summer, heating in the winter), each room has a thermostat. WIFI is through the entire house as well as around the pool.
From the dining room, you have direct access to the terrace which runs along the South side of the house. A cozy outdoor sitting area and a table that seats 10, as well as some attractive planters, make this an exceptional place to have your breakfast and dinners.
A magnificent and elegant stone staircase leads to the garden. In the garden you will again find seating arrangements and a summer kitchen as well as a barbecue.
Through an arbor covered with Wisteria, you will take stairs down to the pool. Around the pool are comfortable sun beds and several parasols. The pool is not heated but is in full sun.
Behind the pool is another small garden where fruit trees are planned.
The house dates back to the 17th century and forms part of the original defensive curtain around the village. The path which runs beneath the terrace was part of the guardians’ route around the village, nowadays known as “le chemin touristique”.
The house has been fully restored over 2019/20 with every effort made to re-use or repurpose old materials and to maintain the sense of antiquity. The house is furnished with some precious and personal items, so please treat them with respect.
